TAKING THE REGENTS' TEST AT Armstrong Atlantic State University's Automatic Test Registration System will prompt students to sign up for the Regents' Tests at the appropriate time before the 45 credit hour limit. Students who do not satisfy the Skills requirement by the 45 credit mark will be required to meet with the Regents' Writing and Reading Coordinators to determine appropriate preparation. Transfer students must pass the test no later than their second semester of enrollment at AASU. Those who have not passed before their third semester of enrollment are subject to the preparation requirements and must meet with the Coordinators as well. Students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs leading to the baccalaureate degree will be required to complete the Regents' Writing and Reading Skills requirement ensuring that students obtaining a degree from a System institution possess certain minimum skills of reading and writing, hereinafter called Regents' Writing and Reading Skills. Armstrong Atlantic State University has chosen to require the test of all undergraduates who have not earned a baccalaureate or higher degree regardless of degree objective. A student holding a baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education will not be required to complete the Regents' Writing and Reading Skills requirement in order to receive a degree from a University System institution. The Regents' Test is designed to provide a method for satisfying the Regents' Writing and Reading Skills requirement. There shall also be two System-mandated courses, one in writing and one in reading, that represent a vehicle for meeting the Regents' Writing and Reading Skills requirement. |
